At Willow Dental Care Langley, we are committed to creating a calm and inviting atmosphere for our patients of all ages. We understand that visiting the dentist is not always a pleasant experience, whether you are anxious about your procedure, afraid of the instruments, or simply have a hard time staying still in the chair for too long–but don’t worry, we don’t take it personally! We can provide various types of sedation dentistry to give you peace of mind no matter what brings you to our Langley dental clinic.
IV Sedation Dentistry
Some dental procedures require more hands-on work than others, and even surgery in some cases, which can contribute to a patient’s anxiety about their visit. If your dental restoration or cosmetic dental treatment requires work in areas of high sensitivity, our dentists are trained to administer anti-anxiety medication through IV sedation, which will put you in a deep state of relaxation. It is quite common to come out of IV sedation with little or no memory of the procedure.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation Dentistry
Nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, is a very common type of sedation dentistry that we offer at Willow Dental Care Langley. For patients young and old who have a hard time sitting still, or are frightened of dental instruments, nitrous oxide is often administered to make them feel more comfortable and at ease in the dentist’s chair. Its pain-blocking and euphoria-producing effects help patients relax and forget about their fears during their dental appointment.
Oral Sedation is administered through a small pill, which is an anti-anxiety medication that puts nervous patients in a state of deep relaxation without rendering them unconscious. If you are given oral sedation before your dental procedure, you can expect to stay conscious and responsive throughout the procedure without fear or discomfort. Similar to IV sedation dentistry, it is common for patients to come out of oral sedation with little or no memory of their dental procedure.
